Brunei: Gurkha Ladies’ Volleyball Championship 2024 - Friday, 14th June 2024, 1000 hrs @ Garrison Gym


GURKHA LADIES’ VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2024 - 14 JUN 24

General

1. The Unit Welfare Centre (UWC) 1 RGR will organise a solidarity event (Volleyball and Messing) for British Forces Brunei (BFB) Ladies and Gurkha Re-enforcement Unit (GRU) Ladies on 14 Jun 24. The event will be conducted in two phases: phase 1 – Volleyball at Gym, Tuker lines and phase 2 – Messing at Chit Chat Community Centre (CCCC). Volleyball will be played as a league system and the final match will be played between the top 2 league position teams. All the matches will be played as per International Volleyball Federation rules. Finally, the event will be concluded with a messing at CCCC.

Aim

2. The aim of this Loose Minute is to highlight necessary details and tasks to the relevant personnel and information about the event. The event is aimed to achieve the following:

a. To strengthen the relationship between BFB and GRU ladies.

b. To develop team spirit/cohesion and sportsmanship.

c. To motivate and instil self-confidence through the competitive games.

d. To encourage ladies for other forthcoming sporting events.

e. To integrate and improve social understanding between two communities and share our bond.

Rules and Score

3. International Volleyball Federation (IVF) Rules and regulations 2005 – 11 will be applied throughout the competition. The respective officials will cover the major rules changes prior to the match. However, the following additional rules will be applied:

a. The league match will be played on best of 3 sets of Table Tennis (TT) scoring rules. The first 2 matches will be played for 25 points and the 3rd match will be played for 15 points if necessary.

b. Any number of substitutions can be done during the game.

c. Only two time-outs per set are allowed.

d. Team should consist of 10 players, best of six in the court at a time.

e. The winning team will get 1 point per match and losing team will not get a point.

f. In the event of a tie on the final standings, overall standings will be decided on counted all sets score as for and against.

g. Any phases of game, 25 points for the set, if it will be draw on 24 points the team needs to get 2 points continue to win the set up 29 points, however, if there is still a tie than whichever team will get 30 points will be declare a winner of that set. This format applies to set of 15 as well.

6. Timings of the event

Players Assemble - 0915 hrs.
GRU Team arrival - 0930 hrs.
Safety/Rules Brief - 0945 hrs.
Game Start - 1000 hrs.
Lunch Break - 1230 – 1330 hrs.
Game ends - 1500 hrs (TBC).
Prize giving - 1500 hrs (Gym) and see off GRU team.
Messing - 1800 hrs.
Events Ends - 2100 hrs.
