Guide for parents of LGBT+ children

This guide has been created by MOD LGBT+ Allies to provide support and guidance to parents of LGBT+ children. We hope this guide will not only help those parents of LGBT+ Children and anyone going through a similar situation or interested in this area, but raise awareness to everyone who reads this guide. It is crucial to remember that coming out is never a one-time event and that our LGBT+ colleagues may have to face this often daunting experience many times in both their personal and work life

Development Boosting Activity for Chidren

Wooden Puzzles

With these simple wooden puzzles, children get an early introduction to the satisfaction of putting pieces in their place. Puzzles are a self correcting learning tool for children. When children attempt to place a puzzle piece in it's place it will only fit if it is placed in the correct space. The act of trying, turning the puzzles and testing the fit, helps children to concentrate, learn problem solving and develop critical thinking and . Puzzles are also a fun activity to develop fine motor ability. Children need to develop strength in the muscles in their fingers so that they can grasp things and hold onto them. This will later give them the ability to hold a pencil. So, try this creative activity to keep your little one entertained while also boosting important developmental skills.

PCMF - Medical Consent Form for Minors

THIS medical consent form for children and young people under the age of 18 years old is available for parents to complete.

Completion of this form is recommended if both parents are overseas, if there is only one parent caring for their child/children or when the child is being cared for by a nominated person who is not their parent.

For any medical encounters in the PCMF in the absence of a parent, the PCMF will attempt to contact the parents, but if this is not possible, this form provides supporting evidence of medical consent.

This consent form should be taken with the child to the PCMF or hospital when the child is taken for treatment.
