Long Term Relationships to benefit from Widening Accommodation Entitlement

On 19 September 2023, Minister for Defence People, Veterans, and Service Families, Dr Andrew Murrison, announced the Widening Accommodation Entitlement Limited Locations (WAE(LL)) at eight selected sites across the UK and Northern Ireland.
  • RMB Norton Manor
  • RNAS Yeovilton
  • Leuchars Station
  • JHC FS Aldergrove
  • Palace Barracks Holywood
  • Thiepval Barracks Lisburn
  • RAF Cosford
  • RAF Shawbury
This is a first step in meeting the commitment made in the Defence Accommodation Strategy (2022) to allocate accommodation to personnel in Established Long Term Relationships LTR(E) on the same basis as those who are cohabiting or married.
Who is eligible?

To be eligible for WAE(LL) Service personnel must get an assignment order to one of the eight sites with a report for duty date on or after 31 October 23, and before 11 March 24. In line with current policy, Service personnel will need to register their relationship status on JPA and have it verified by Unit HR.

How do I apply for WAE(LL)?

Eligible Service personnel can apply now using the E1132 form. Once submitted they will be entitled to Service Family Accommodation under the new WAE(LL) policy.

What happens if I am assigned to one of the eight sites and there is no Service Family Accommodation?

If Service Family Accommodation is unavailable, Substitute Service Family Accommodation in line with your entitlement will be sourced for you.

What are the eligibility criteria for an Established Long Term Relationship?

The evidence requirements and registration process for an established long-term relationship are defined at Paragraphs 0116 and 0117 in JSP 464, Vol.1 Part 1.
