Action Fraud: Attack of the Clone Firms

New warning from Action Fraud, the City of London Police and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Action Fraud and the City of London Police are working with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to issue a warning to the public, amid reports of ‘clone firm’ investment scams.

Attack of the clone firms: Over £78 million stolen in 'clone firm' investment scams with victims losing more than £45,000 each, on average.

Education Provision For Service Children Overseas


The education provision for service children overseas can be categorised as Ministry of Defence (MOD) Schools and Settings or non MOD schools locations.

An update on the Education Overseas Supportability (EOS) Form 2021

All children 0 to 18 require educational clearance prior to overseas postings. This includes postings to MOD Schools and Non-MOD School areas.

All MOD Primary and Secondary schools are now expected to use the January 2021 Education Overseas Supportability (EOS) Form (PDF, 184KB, 4 pages) and not any other variation. Overseas educational clearances for locations other than those supported by MOD Schools will be managed by CEAS using the January 2021 EOS Form.

Parents should contact either the MOD School in the Overseas location or CEAS for further information about the educational clearance process.

Passport validity rules for travel to Europe have changed, you may need to renew earlier than planned.


Use this service to check if you need to renew your passport before travelling to Europe.

If you’re using your passport as ID to visit Ireland, you do not need to renew it as long as it’s valid for the whole of your stay.

You’ll need to know:
- when your passport was issued
-when your passport expires
- the date you plan to travel

Jobcentre & Benefit Guidance On New National COVID Restrictions


The following updated jobcentre guidance applies to customers in England, and will ensure essential support is provided whilst keeping colleagues and customers safe.Jobcentres will remain open, as they have throughout this pandemic, to provide essential services and support to those who we cannot help in any other way.
We will ensure that this support continues to be delivered in line with the latest government and PHE guidance – such as maintaining social distancing and rigorous cleaning regimes - keeping our colleagues and customers safe.
Work Coaches will be empowered to support customers through the best and most appropriate channels - whether online, by phone, or in-person - with jobcentres remaining open to help those who need extra support and are unable to interact with us on the phone or digitally.Our Work Coaches will continue to deliver employment support programmes such as the Job Entry Targeted Support (JETs) scheme, by phone or through online channels.
Face-to-face assessments for disability benefits remain suspended.
If you think you might be entitled to a health and disability benefit, you should contact us as soon as possible to make a claim in the usual way.
For existing customers, payments will continue as normal. Anyone who has a change in their needs should contact us immediately so we can ensure they are receiving the correct level of support.
